New Years Clock Cake2012

Hours and this New Year's Eve Cakeis a layer 4 vanilla cake with vanilla filling and frosting covered with fondant black and white and color figures.
This cake is very simple as I used organic cake mix and frosting from Whole Foods Market. I was mixing a cake and one 2 Mix frosting.
Prepare mix according to directions and add 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract to the frosting and cake mix. Bake as directed. Use any flavor of extract you wish.
After the cooled cake, and fill the cake among all classes and also cover the entire cake with vanilla frosting. Put the cake in the refrigerator for about an hour to make the frosting tacky.
Takes the cake from the refrigerator and brush a thin layer of piping gel on the upper and lower edge of the cake to help the fondant to stay in place
Mix black edible gel (available at Micheal's or Jo Ann) with the bulk of pipes to a smooth consistency to draw the numbers on the clock face. The color gel tubes help to not run or fade in the fondant. Make sure to use a clean brush art only used for food purposes.
When you finish decorating the cake, brush on some piping gel to fondant black to give it some sheen.
This cake took me about 8 hours to bake and decorate, I suggest baking the cake one day, to decorate the next. Enjoy
